  • Analyze the clinical challenges associated with traditional prosthetic socket fit, including volume fluctuation, skin breakdown, and patient dissatisfaction.
  • Evaluate the indications, benefits, and limitations of adjustable socket technology as a tool for managing limb volume changes and improving patient comfort and function.
  • Identify patient-specific factors (e.g., lifestyle, activity level, cognitive ability, and prior socket experience) to determine appropriate candidacy for adjustable socket systems.

The Transfemoral Certificate Program is a program designed to enhance prosthetists’ ability to provide comprehensive care for individuals with transfemoral amputations. The course covers a range of transfemoral prosthetic interfaces, key factors affecting alignment, and therapy considerations. It also presents strategies for optimizing these areas to maximize successful outcomes for transfemoral prosthesis users.

Completing all three sessions meets one of the Certificate requirements for the Fellow of the Academy program.
