Learning Objectives
- By the end of this course, participants will be able to identify the impact of neurological and musculoskeletal diseases, such as stroke, arthritis, and Parkinson's disease, on hand function, particularly in individuals with hemiplegia and hemiparesis.
- Participants will be able to describe the role of robotic device technology in the rehabilitation of hand function for patients with neurological and musculoskeletal impairments, with a focus on stroke-related hemiplegia and hemiparesis.
- Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to assess the effectiveness of robotic devices in improving hand function and daily activities for individuals with stroke, arthritis, and Parkinson’s disease.
Course Description
A Review on Surface Electromyography-Controlled Hand Robotic Devices Used for Rehabilitation and Assistance in Activities of Daily Living (JPO032-1A)
This course explores the impact of hand impairment caused by neurological and musculoskeletal diseases, such as stroke, arthritis, and Parkinson's disease. It focuses on hemiplegia and hemiparesis, particularly following stroke, which affects motor function and daily activities. The course also covers the use of robotic device technology in rehabilitation for improving hand function in patients with these disabilities.
